OE
LG Washer OE Error
OE is a drain error: the washer tried to empty the tub and the water level didn't fall fast enough. The machine stops with a tub of water rather than spin a load it can't drain.

The short version: Start at the little door on the bottom front of the machine. A clogged drain pump filter causes most OE errors, and cleaning it costs nothing but ten minutes and a towel.
STEP 1 Likely causes, in order
Work down this list — it runs from the most common and cheapest to fix, to the least common and most involved.
- Clogged drain pump filterCoins, hairpins, buttons, and lint mat together in the filter until the pump can't push water past it. Front-load washers filter everything through this one screen.
- Kinked or blocked drain hoseThe hose gets crushed when the washer is pushed back, or lint builds up where it meets the standpipe.
- Standpipe or house drain draining slowlyIf the laundry drain itself is partly blocked, the washer gives up — the machine is fine, the house drain isn't keeping up.
- Drain pump failingAfter years of service the pump's impeller wears or the motor weakens. This is usually announced by weeks of louder-than-usual draining first.
STEP 2 The safe checks
Power off and water off wherever a step says so. Nothing here opens the machine's cabinet, touches a gas line, or defeats a safety device.
- Switch off and unplug the washerThere is standing water in the tub and a pump that can start without warning. Power off, always.
- Drain the tub through the emergency hoseOpen the small access panel at the bottom front (usually lower left). Inside is a short drain tube with a plug. Put a shallow pan under it, pull the plug, and let the tub empty into the pan a little at a time.
- Unscrew the pump filter and clean itOnce the water is out, twist the large round filter cap counter-clockwise. Expect coins and sludge. Rinse the filter clean, and reach a finger into the housing to check the impeller spins freely.
- Check the drain hose end to endStraighten kinks, and make sure the hose isn't pushed deep into the standpipe or sealed with tape. If you can, run water through it into a bucket to confirm it's clear.
- Refit everything and run a rinse & spin, emptyFilter back in snug, access panel closed, power on. An empty rinse & spin that drains fully and finishes clean means the code should stay gone.
Stop here and call a professional if…
- Filter clean, hose clear, standpipe draining — and OE returns on the test cycle. That pattern points at the drain pump itself, which means opening the machine.
- The pump makes a grinding or buzzing noise but moves no water even with a clean filter.
- Water is leaking from the filter housing after you refit it and the cap won't seat properly — a cracked housing or failed seal is a parts job.
